Welcome to DigginFood

Spring spinach seedlings

Why DigginFood? Because I like everything about food. I love strolling through the aisles of grocery stores, chatting with friends about recipes and restaurants, and trying new cookbooks. But above all, I love growing food in my garden and cooking it up in my kitchen.

In my day job as a garden writer and editor, I run across tons of awesome stories about people growing, cooking, and eating food right from the garden. So I dreamed up this blog as a place to both write about the delicious happenings in my own garden and kitchen and to share the great ideas I find in other places.

My hope is that DigginFood persuades people who love to cook and eat good food to try out growing some of their own—and that it provides lots of inspiration for people who already have a kitchen garden.

I’ve gathered up tons of ideas that I can’t wait to tell you about. So in the coming weeks you can expect to find out about the best cookbooks for gardeners, sneak peeks of awesome kitchen gardens, variety reviews, and more. Plus, I’ll be posting growing guides for all my favorite vegetables and herbs and sharing recipes.

Happy Earth Day and Happy Gardening!

p.s. The picture on this post is of some spinach seedlings I started. They are fresh and green, two qualities I hope you’ll find in DigginFood.
