I just found your blog and Oh my love love love your garden. I found you while searching greenhouses because that is the next thing we want to add to our backyard gardens. We have 3 large raised beds and garden organically year round. I have herbs on the side of the house and in pots here and there. Right now we are still enjoying the last of sweet 100 cherry, good girl tomatoes, and zuchini. I've planted lettuce, spinach, cauliflower, red onions, garlic, and carrots for our winter garden so far. Out of all the green houses I've found, I like yours best! My husband and son are carpenters so they could easily build one like it. I hope they can get it done this winter so we can begin using it in Febuary. Then I will need to learn how and what to grow in it. Your blog will be a good place to begin learning. Thank you.

I loved looking at all the detail in your garden. Your peppers were unbelievable. When did you plant them? Did you start them indoors and move them out, if so, when? Do you grow bell peppers too. When do you plant those. This will be my second year doing a veggie garden. My plot is 30 by 30. I didn't know I could go into fall and I started to late. So, lessons learned for this year. Also, when do you put corn in the ground? Start inside? I live in Maple Valley. Thanks Heidi

Hi. this is kind of an "off the wall" query, but have other readers asked you how get the menu bar to look like you have got it? I also have a blog and am really trying to alter around the theme, but am scared to death to mess with it for fear of the search engines punishing me. I'm extremely new to all of this ...so i'm just not positive exactly how to try to to it all yet. I'll just keep working on it one day at a time :-) Thanks for any help you can offer here.

Thanks so much for your nice comments! Amy, I have a problem with leaf miners on my Swiss Chard. The best way to control them is by placing a row cover over the spinach right after you seed. I am always too lazy to do that, but I've gotten pretty good control by removing the damaged leaves as soon as I see them. I've also noticed in the PNW, we usually have two generations of leaf miners. The first in early summer and the 2nd right about now. Jessica, for the record my 'Satsuki Madori' did not have any disease problems (but this is the first time I've grown them, so we'll see about next year!).

Wow, this is one of the most beautiful kitchen gardens I've ever seen! Mine is getting all overgrown and disease ridden. I've totally got to try some of those cucumbers. I grew Straight 8s this year. They did okay, but developed disease pretty quickly which caused the fruit to be mishapened.

hi Willi, Amy here. Your garden and your website are both lovely. Do you have any suggestions for avoiding problems with leaf miners on spinach?

Wow Willi...girl you've come a long way since I was out to see your place earlier this year. Can't wait to see more of the changes you have going/are planning to have going in the front! Kudos!
