DIY Seed Station and Seed Starting Demo

Fall pea shoot

Tomorrow morning I’m going to do a seed-starting demo and show off how to build a DIY seed-starting station using an IKEA shelving unit. The demo will be held at Molbak’s Nursery in Woodinville, Washington and it starts at 9:30. I’ll be on hand afterwards to answer all of your most pressing seed-starting questions. Can’t make it? Don’t worry. I’m going to put the seed starting station up at home this weekend so I can start those iceberg lettuce seedlings. I’m planning on taking step-by-step photos as I set it up and will post them with instructions next week.

This will be great. I have a bunch of seeds I need to start and I always mess them up. I end up buying the plants in the end. cant wait for the pic by pic. It will be very useful.

Oo I can’t wait for this demo because I just got my flower beds ready to go for planting so I need to start up a bunch of seeds and get those ready before i can start planting! I’m so excited about this spring.

I really enjoyed the workshop and learned a lot. I was very impressed with your knowledge about the subject. I appreciated the options provided for getting started for some of the tools and equipment. It was my first time visiting Molbak’s. Wow! What a store! Thanks again.

I wish I could’ve made it! I’ll be starting my seeds tonight… My seeds have arrived and I made approximately 9 million newspaper starter pots this weekend :)

Jamie–9 Million seedling pots! Wow. What are you starting??

Susan– Start pole beans, spinach, beets, and carrots outside (wait until late May for the beans, spinach okay now beets and carrots fine in a couple weeks, or even now though germination will be slow). Start peppers, jalapeno inside now and the squash at the beginning of may. You want to put those out when they only have one set of true leaves because they don’t like their roots disturbed.

Karen–Thanks for coming. Isn’t Molbak’s great? I never get out of there without buying something!

The seed station step-by-step is coming up tomorrow…sorry for the delay I got laid low by a headache today.

    Okay I was exaggerating a little bit… It’s 128 to be exact :)

After ripping a seemingly endless pile newspapers into strips it felt like 9 million though!
