March Desktop Calendar: Seed Starting
When Anne Bryant and I decided to offer the desktop calendars on DigginFood this year, we brainstormed ideas around the theme of urban homesteading. One of the goals of urban homesteading is to be more self-sufficient and starting your own vegetable seedings from seed indoors is a great way to take a step down that path.
To help celebrate Anne’s beautiful calendar, I’m going to post my best seed-starting tips tomorrow and I will be doing a free seed-starting demonstration at Molbak’s Nursery in Woodinville, Washington this coming Saturday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
To put the calendar on your computer’s desktop, all you need to do is choose the size that best fits your monitor and then click on the link below—the file will automatically download to your computer and then you can set it up as your background image:

This is good, with a calendar, I have a new weapon in my arsenal against procrastination. Thank you!
February 28th, 2011 at 11:48 amThis is exactly what I have done this winter! I got my seeds started indoors… If you start seeds indoors earlier it is said (I’m yet to find out for myself) that they have a longer and more abundant season.
February 28th, 2011 at 1:19 pmHi Willi. Thanks for the calendar! I just lost my 3 week old tomato seedlings to the cold (even in a greenhouse), so have to restart them. It was nice to meet you at the Flower and Garden Show this weekend.
February 28th, 2011 at 8:07 pmSo good to hear you on Kuow the other morning! I thought for sure I would lose my favorite gardener on Green Tuesdays when you moved south. My tomatoes, peppers, basil and calendula are all up under grow lights in our extra room… also, onions and chives, but I don’t know how well they will do. I started my seeds 3 weeks ago (well, the first batch – never plant everything in the packet at the same time, right?)so the veggie season is ON!
